How to calculate your annual salary from any pay
"Annual salary" is just your pay scaled up to a full year. The multiplier depends on how often that pay arrives:
| If you're paid… | Multiply by | Example → annual |
|---|---|---|
| Per hour | 2,080 | $25/hr → $52,000 |
| Per day | 260 | $200/day → $52,000 |
| Per week | 52 | $1,000/wk → $52,000 |
| Bi-weekly | 26 | $2,000 → $52,000 |
| Semi-monthly | 24 | $2,167 → $52,000 |
| Per month | 12 | $4,333 → $52,000 |
Gross annual vs. net annual income
Your gross annual salary is the headline number lenders and employers ask for. But your net annual income — what you can actually spend and save — is 15% to 30% lower once federal tax, Social Security, Medicare and state tax are removed. The result panel above shows both so there are no surprises.
When pay isn't perfectly regular
If your hours or shifts vary, average several recent pay stubs before multiplying — one unusually high or low period can distort the annual estimate. For tipped, commission or seasonal work, a three-month average usually gives a fair annualized figure.
Next steps
Once you know your annual salary, see your per-paycheck amount on the paycheck calculator, or find your true rate with the salary to hourly calculator. For state-specific take-home, pick your state — for example Florida (no state tax) or New York.
Questions
Annual salary FAQ
How do I calculate my annual salary?
Multiply your pay by how often you receive it: hourly pay × 2,080, weekly pay × 52, bi-weekly pay × 26, semi-monthly pay × 24, or monthly pay × 12. The result is your gross annual salary before taxes.
What is my annual salary if I make $2,000 every two weeks?
Bi-weekly pay is received 26 times a year, so $2,000 every two weeks equals $52,000 per year before taxes.
Is annual salary calculated before or after tax?
Annual salary normally refers to your gross pay — the total before taxes and deductions. Your annual take-home (net) pay is lower; this calculator estimates both.
How do I find my annual income from monthly pay?
Multiply your gross monthly pay by 12. If you are paid $4,500 a month, your annual salary is $54,000 before taxes.
