How it works

How to calculate your weekly paycheck

A weekly pay schedule gives you 52 paychecks a year — one every week. Gross weekly pay is your annual salary divided by 52. For your net weekly paycheck, subtract federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare from your annual pay first, then divide the result by 52. Weekly pay is common in hourly, trade and hospitality jobs.

Annual salaryGross weeklyEst. net weekly*
$35,000$673~$590
$45,000$865~$745
$55,000$1,058~$895
$70,000$1,346~$1,115

*Single filer, standard deduction, 2026 federal brackets and FICA, no state tax.

💡
Weekly pay and budgeting: Smaller, more frequent checks can make cash-flow easier week to week, but they require tighter tracking since each one covers fewer days. Many weekly earners set aside a fixed share of every check for monthly bills.

Paid by the hour? Multiply your rate by your weekly hours to get gross weekly pay — for example $20/hour × 40 hours = $800 gross. Use the hourly to salary calculator to turn that into an annual figure, or the hourly paycheck calculator for a full net breakdown.

Questions

Weekly paycheck FAQ

How many weekly paychecks are in a year?

There are 52 weekly pay periods in a year — one paycheck every week. This is the most frequent common schedule, ahead of bi-weekly (26 checks) and semi-monthly (24 checks).

How do I calculate my weekly pay?

Divide your gross annual salary by 52 for gross weekly pay. For take-home, subtract federal income tax, Social Security and Medicare from your annual pay, then divide the net figure by 52. This tool does both using 2026 IRS and SSA rates.

What is the weekly take-home on $55,000?

On a $55,000 salary with no state tax, take-home is roughly $46,500 a year, or about $895 per week after federal tax and FICA. State income tax, where it applies, lowers this further.

Is weekly pay better than bi-weekly?

Neither pays more over a year — the total is identical. Weekly pay gives smaller, more frequent checks that can smooth cash-flow; bi-weekly pay gives larger checks and two "extra" paydays a year. The best schedule depends on how you budget.
